About Jeffrey
Attorney Jeffrey Heyel found his calling as an employment attorney advocating for the disabled and fighting workplace discrimination. With more than 22 years of legal, managerial, and corporate human resources experience in both the public and private sectors, he developed a deep appreciation for the emotional, physical, and financial hardships endured by clients in their daily lives.
His law firm, The Greater Danbury Legal Center, specializes in the area of employment, labor, civil rights, and corporate law, typically representing individuals and small businesses in wrongful termination, wage & hour, and corporate human resource matters including, but not limited to: disability discrimination, age discrimination, sexual harassment, discrimination under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and unemployment compensation.
In addition to his legal expertise, Attorney Heyel brings extensive human resources managerial experience to the classes he teaches at the University of New 51, having held positions as Director of Human Resources/Associate Director of Operations for GEM Communications Inc. in Norwalk Connecticut and as Human Resource Consultant and Policy Analyst for Human Resource Solutions Inc. in Minneapolis Minnesota. He has been teaching undergraduate and graduate business, law, and ethics courses at the University for more than 15 years, concurrent with his law practice.
“In all of my courses, I strive to enrich and inspire students, applying theory to practical application in the contemporary workplace,” Heyel explains. “I employ an ‘issue, rule, analysis, and conclusion’ (IRAC) methodology, which serves me well in the classroom and courtroom and will serve them well as they embark on their careers in industry.”
Attorney Heyel earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Hamline University School of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota and his Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Pace University. He is admitted to the Connecticut Bar and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
